MFSB, which is short for  "Mother, Father, Sister, Brother" best known for there 'Philly' sound in the early 1970s. Originally a score of studio musicians, they created their own group and enjoyed chart and club success with a number of songs.

As house band, their sound was prevalent on a number of albums on Philadelphia International Records and influenced many artists including The O'Jays and The Stylistics.

In 1974, they recorded the theme for Soul Train - TSOP or The Sound of Philadelphia (with the help of The Three Degrees), which was released as a single and soon climbed the charts.

Numerous albums and singles were released - many of which have been later sampled by Hip Hop DJ's.

Of all their hits, Love is the Message is their most popular, and was the first song to be inducted into the Dance Music Hall of Fame in 2004.
