Ed's acting career began performing alongside Guy Pearce and Portia De Rossi in The King & I, soon after which he joined GSODA for 7 years.

Over the years, his roles have included Grantaire (2000 & 2005) in Les Misérables, the Artful Dodger in Oliver!, Doody in Grease, Mercutio in Romeo & Juliet, the Dentist in Little Shop of Horrors, Darcy in Scenes from a Separation and the Sheriff of Nottingham in The Robin Hood Trilogy Special Edition, that he co-wrote with long time collaborator,  Ian Nash-Gilchrist. He co-directed Pirates of Penzance and A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum and Little Shop of Horrors for Lyric Youth Theatre.

Ed was also nominated for Best Actor in a Leading Role by the Theatre Guild of Victoria for his role of J. Pierrepont Finch in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying and in 2006 as Best Director for LYT's Little Shop of Horrors.  Other notable shows included leads in Theatre of the Winged Unicorn's Hayfever and A Chorus of Disapproval.

Ed was also seen in the role of Tobias in the hit television series The Secret Life of Us has appeared in guest roles in Stingers: Undercover and Neighbours 

In 1996 Ed co-founded Comic Genius Productions with Ian Nash-Gilchrist. They recently co-produced and starred in the hit Steve Martin Play Picasso at the Lapin Agile for Geelong Repertory Theatre Company. Their last project was the Jerry Lewis/Tony Curtis comedy Boeing Boeing and are close to finishing a new disco musical called Lucky Stars.

For 18 years Ed hosted the disco show Disco Fever on 94.7 The Pulse and for the past 4 years works as Captain Starlight for the Starlight Children's Foundation.
