This British based group was
formed in 1974. In
1975 they won the RCA Soul Search Contest and by 1976 had released their
first single Let Me Take Your Back in Time.
Boney M producer, Frank Farian began to manage the group in 1977 discovering the lead singer, Precious Wilson in the Farian designed disco Rendezvous used as a test bed for disco tracks. Eruption were soon signed to German-based Hansa Records. Their first single was the cover I Can't Stand the Rain which peaked in the UK singles charts at #5, and #18 in the US. They followed this up in 1979 with their best known hit, One Way Ticket. In pursuit of a solo career, Precious Wilson left the group in 1979 and was replaced by Kim Davies. While the hits dried up, the band remained active until disbanding in the mid 1980s. |
