Born in Bradford, Yorkshire
England in 1947 Kiki Dee started as a singing soul music in the
late 1960's and soon became the first British Caucasian to be signed
with Motown Records.
she was soon signed to Elton Johh's Rocket record label, and soon produced her first hit Amoureuse in 1973. This was followed in 1974 by another big hit, the catchy I've Got the Music in Me. In 1976, during which Elton John was at his peak, he wrote Don't Go Breaking My Heart which he performed with Kiki and took to the top of the charts worldwide. Kiki followed this up with a few at which charted well in the UK but never matched the success of 1976. She hit the West End to positive notices in Blood Brothers and recorded another duet with Elton John - True Love in 1993. Kiki Dee continues to record and perform throughout the world. |
