Born in Brooklyn, New York on January 31, 1948, Paul was an original member of the cast of Hair 1968 and originated the role of King Herod in the West End production of Jesus Christ Superstar.

He released three solo albums through disco power label, Casablanca - 1977's Shut Out, Keeping Time and The Third Album in 1979 which includes the classic Disco Wedding/Disco Divorce medley.

He is closely associated with Donna Summer - writing a number of tracks including his Oscar winning song Last Dance.

He also gave Barbra Streisand her disco sound with hits including the nominated The Main Event and the dance floor smash No More Tears (Enough Is Enough) with Donna Summer both in 1979.

Paul also worked as an actor and wrote songs for a number of films, but is best known for his performance in the classic disco movie Thank God It's Friday (which also featured Donna Summer and The Commodores) - for which the aforementioned Last Dance was penned.  He followed this with the smash hit anthem It's Raining Men by the Weather Girls.

In 1991, he co-founded the Red Ribbon Project and created the 'red ribbon' promoting AIDS awareness.

Sadly, Paul passed away the following year.
