Born July 11, 1953, Peter Brown taught himself to play the drums when he was aged 13 and this soon led to him experimenting with a 4 track recorder in his bedroom.

He began recording and overdubbing in his bedroom studio - the first of his demos to be picked up by producer Cory Wade was Do You Wanna Get Funky With Me?

Released through TK records, the hit became a dance floor smash and is the first 12 inch single to sell one million copies. He followed this with the hits Dance With Me featuring Betty Wright and Crank it Up (Funk Town) Part 1 in 1979.

Brown released albums till 1984. In 1985 he co wrote the smash Madonna single Material Girl, taken from her Like a Virgin album.

His latest album, Chasing Fireflies was released in 1999.
