Based in Canada, Promises
formed in 1978 by Leslie Maria Knauer and her two brothers
Jed and Benny. Their father was managed the band and has
played keyboards.
Their self-titled debut album failed to chart in the US but their single Baby It's You became a smash hit in Australia and Europe (in Germany peaked at number 4 ) in February 1979. Their album went on to go Gold and sold more than 250,000 copies. Their second single Lets get back together failed to replicate their first singles release and soon after the group disbanded. Leslie Knauer still sings and was in the group Precious Metal in the mid 90's and currently fronts the band Kanary. |
