Roger Voudouris was born
on
December 29, 1954 in Sacramento California.
During his high school years, he formed Roger Voudouris Loud as Hell Rockers. Later the band was to open for such acts as The Doobie Brothers, Stephen Stills and John Mayall. Roger released his first album, the self titled Roger Voudouris in 1978. While this caused a little interest, the release hardly set the charts on fire. He only had to wait a year later with his second album Radio Dream. This album featured Get Used To It, which went on to be the 21st highest selling single in United States in 1979. Later that year, Roger travelled to Australia to host the top rating music show Countdown. His performance in a tight polyester v-neck jumper while facing a wind machine set female fans heart's racing and caused the single and album to shoot up the charts peaking in the top 25. |

He followed this with his 1980 album, A Guy Like Me. and 1981's On the Heels of Love. While On the Heels of Love did not follow the success of his previous album, he did find a huge market in Japan, which loved the Roger Voudouris sound. Soon afterwards, Roger got back to what he did best - writing lyrics and music. In 1983 Roger wrote the lyrics to the movie The Lonely Lady starring Pia Zadora, as well as performing on a few of the album's tracks. Among other projects, he wrote the music for a documentary on the life of Elvis Presley. Roger continued to keep a low profile, continuing to write and produce music and work at his craft. Sadly, Roger passed away on
August 3rd, 2003. If you would like to leave a message about Roger, please
