Born in Australia in 1953, as Cheryl Gray, Samantha was a regular fixture in such Australian variety shows including IMT with Graham Kennedy, The Bert Newton Show and The Ernie Sigley Show.

At age 15, in 1967 she released the single You Made Me What I Am for which she was awarded Best Female Vocal. It peaked at No. 2 on the Australian charts.

Soon after this, she set out for London and worked with such artists at the Bee Gees, The Hollies and Hermin's Hermits.

In 1972 she hit Broadway and performed alongside Doug Henning and David Ogden-Stiers in The Magic Show, which was co-written by Stephen Schwartz.

During her time in London, she was noticed by Barry Gibb of the Bee Gees and so impressed by her singing talent wrote The Love of a Woman for her.

In 1978, her single Emotion, written by Barry and Robin Gibb was a world wide smash hitting number 1 in numerous countries and selling over 6 million singles.

Subsequently, her album Emotion that featured the single also sold 4 million.

Appearances on The Johnny Carson Show, The Merv Griffin Show, The Dinah Shore Show and American Bandstand soon followed.

She now resides in Melbourne, Australia and is preparing to re-release a number of her albums.
